Guidelines

The website is designed to provide a framework for you to operate a babysitting club. On this page, we make some suggestions for your group to consider prior to getting started:

  1. Conditions of membership for your group
  2. Once you have a few people keen to form a group you may find it useful to work out an agreed approach for conditions of membership to simplify the process of accepting new members. For example what criteria will you set for membership? (i.e. New members must be known to all in the group. New members must be known to at least one in the group etc)

  3. Arranging a babysitter
  4. As a Babysitting Club member you can find a sitter either in the usual way e.g. by phone, or you can use the website’s Request a Sitter facility. The online facility allows you to enter your babysitting requirements for a specific date, pick your preferred sitter(s) who will then receive an email with your request. As the online request facility is not linked into a 'acceptance of request' function it is advised that you confirm which group member will sit for you and the necessary details. The website will not make those arrangements for you.

  5. Departing group members
  6. A situation may arise where a group member with a negative balance wishes to leave the group. You may wish to build a provision for that situation into your group membership approach. For example, will you simply allow someone to exit the group with a negative balance? Will you ensure they return their balance to zero? Make sure all group members are aware of the group's approach.

  7. Defining a maximum negative balance
  8. Your group may wish to define a maximum negative balance that members can accrue. People with a negative balance greater than that limit would not be allowed to request others to sit for them until they improve their balance.

  9. Rotation of the Group Coordinator role
  10. Your group may wish to rotate the Group Coordinator role. If so, decide the term and notify us when you have a change of coordinator via the Contact Us page.
